Graduated in Speech Therapy from the University of Malaga, I have a Master's Degree in Early Care and Child Development awarded by the International University of La Rioja, as well as a Higher Technician degree in Early Childhood Education. In addition, I have specialized training in voice (dysphonia), atypical swallowing and intervention in laryngectomized patients.
With more than two years of experience in clinical speech therapy, I have cared for patients referred by the Andalusian Health System (SAS) and worked with children from birth to adulthood.
The function of the speech therapist is to improve health and quality of life in cases of pathologies related to human communication processes, both in the expression and understanding of language.
The main fields of action in speech therapy cover a wide variety of areas. These include the treatment of language and communication disorders that may arise after cardiovascular accidents, acquired brain damage or stroke, as well as the treatment of speech disorders, such as dysarthria, dysphemia or speech sound disorders.
In addition, we work on the intervention of voice disorders, which can be caused by congenital malformations, nodules, polyps, tumors, paralysis, among other factors. Attention to hearing disorders, such as the use of cochlear implants and cases of hearing loss, are also part of the speech therapist's areas of action.
Other areas of intervention include the treatment of written language and reading disorders, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia; support for people with intellectual disabilities; therapy for alterations in oral functions, such as breathing, chewing, sucking and swallowing; and addressing Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Likewise, intervention is carried out on Specific Language Disorders (SLI), attention is paid to language delays and pronunciation disorders caused by physical injuries or malformations, such as lip and palate clefts, are treated.
